Beat Battler
Another student and I teamed up to work on this game for our final for Game Design III in Fall 2016. We chose the prompt "Textless Game". His idea was to create an aesthetically pleasing fighting game filled with spectacles, and I wanted to make something music related. Therefore, we combined our ideas and made a rhythm fighting game. I split MIDI files, converted them to MP3 files, and synchronized the animations and fighting to the music.
Highlights:
- Health is communicated through the amount of instrumental tracks playing in the background. Every hit silences a track.
- Everything moves to the beat.
- If you destroy a robot to the beat, you regain 1 health.
Note: There are still some bugs, but I wanted to show the mechanics in this game. I recommend not pressing the spacebar outside of the intro or death screens or else the game may crash.
